Rejection by the CRTC of Playboy TV's hardcore adult channels an opportunity for Canadian licensee - TEN Broadcasting Inc. and Canadian Cable TV, Wireless
and DTH Systems
Ottawa. July 19, 2001: TEN Broadcasting Inc.(X), whose licenses for two contemporary adult channels were approved by the CRTC late last year, will launch
its channels this fall. The company has chosen cable friendly Motorola Digicipher II equipment to compress and encode its services for safe, secure satellite
delivery to the Cable, Wireless and Direct-To-Home (DTH) satellite markets. The Company is also providing Digicipher II receivers to systems ready to receive
the channels.
Commenting on the planned launch of X and the CRTC rejection of Playboy TV's hardcore channels, Stuart Duncan, President and CEO of X stated, "The recent
controversy surrounding the broadcasting of illegal adult content in Canada cannot happen with X. The CRTC has recognized that only a Canadian company,
operating under Canadian law, with due respect for the process required, can bring adult content to market. We are the only way that Canadian subscribers
wanting adult programming can obtain a monthly subscription service for only $20 from their system operator whether it be cable, wireless or DTH satellite."
X has already amassed an extensive video library of over 7000 films. All of X's programming meets acceptance with Canadian laws and standards. In addition
to the programming it already has, all new X programming will be reviewed by Customs Canada to ensure it does not violate the Canadian Criminal Code as
it relates to obscenity. Illegal programming is screened out. In addition, X employs trained staff to screen content to ensure legal compliance and quality
standards. Canadian produced adult content will be reviewed and approved by the appropriate regulatory authority prior to broadcast.
TEN Broadcasting Inc.(X)
X is a privately held Canadian corporation holding two CRTC category 2 approved licenses. The principal and the employees of X are veterans of the adult
programming, cable television, and satellite network industries, several of who are considered to be pioneers in the adult movie network business.
The company's President and CEO owned and operated the Exxxtasy Networks through the 1990's, eventually selling to an American company who used the Exxxtasy Networks to launch a public company on NASDAQ. All four of the Exxxtasy channels seen on satellite and cable in the United States were previously produced, programmed, and up-linked from the company's Ottawa teleport.
X offers the finest in first run movies, interviews, features and interactive adult talk shows. It will break new ground in contemporary adult entertainment
when it launches its adult channels this fall.
